PRIVATE PILOT ROTARY / HELICOPTER (PHPL)

CAAP requirements for Private Pilot Certificate:

  • Must be at least 17 years of age
  • Be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language
  • Hold at least a current 3rd  Class Medical Certificate
  • Pass the CAAP Knowledge (General) Test
  • Pass the CAAP Practical Flight Test and Oral Examination (Checkride)

Private Helicopter Pilot Ground Course

PHPL module introduces the student to the fundamentals of flying from medical considerations to radio communication. A Private Pilot License holder can fly without supervision. Once you gained the license, you may take your family and friends to anywhere you wish. To experience full rights for PHPL, you must complete 40 hours of flight training and pass the CAAP General and Powerplant Examinations, and 1 hour Checkride. The PHPL can be used for recreation, travel or business. With 84 hours of ground schooling, subjects for PHPL include:

CAAP Minimum Required Flight Training Hours

40 hours of flight training time is the requirement, of which 20 must be dual instruction, 10 must be solo, and 10 may be either.
